Aviation insurance is insurance coverage geared specifically to the operation of aircraft and the risks involved in aviation. Aviation insurance provides coverage for hull losses as well as liability for passenger injuries or death, environmental and third-party property damage and personal injuries or death caused by aircraft accidents. Physical damage insurance provided to cover loss or damage to the insured’s aircraft, whilst in motion or otherwise or both.
Mode of Loss settlement
This type of cover will pay for repairs and reinstatement of the aircraft to the condition that it was in before the incident, subject to certain exclusions and policy conditions which may apply. If the aircraft is not repairable an agreed amount may be paid, known as the agreed value, which is usually agreed with the insured at inception and is noted in the policy.
